The church of San Francesco a Ripa was built in the 1600s to accompany the Franciscan  Convent (for men) in Trastevere.  The reason for seeking it out is that it contains the "other" Bernini  ecstatic masterpiece - his figure of Beata Ludovica Albertoni.  We actually think that it is a better sculpture than its more famous sister - also less cluttered with bling.  And you won't find many flash camera tourist menaces around!
