The small church of anta Maria del Giglio (lily) has had a presence on this site between San Marco and Santo Stefano since the 900s. Mainly known because of its facade, which dates from the late 1600s when the old basilica was knocked down and the church entirely rebuilt, it's worth popping in to see the early 1600s Madonna by P P Rubens (1577 - 1640) (the man who could never resist a good pair of nipples), and ...... |
