SPRING IN PORTUGAL, 2006

North from Salema to Evora

Atlantic Seas, Carpets of Portuguese Wild Flowers and a Roman Temple

Overnight at the excellent value IBIS hotel  at Porta Raimondo - one of the main entrances to the small walled (and UNESCOed) town of Evora - pleasant place (bit like Todi - spacious and elegant late renaissance, but not the blast it's made out to be).  Plus a roman temple (bit of) on top.

Dinner was interesting ....

Hard boiled quail egg & cocktail sausage (chorizo) appetizer; Sopa de Coentros – coriander leaves, garlic, olive oil, bread chunks, poached egg floater; Carne de Porco à Alentejana – pork in wine, garnished with clams, roast potatoes (in casserole), fried bread, orange wedges.

...... the best bit was the appetizer.
